Springfield Haitian Man Blames Confusing English Language for ‘Catfishing’ Arrest

In a tale that has left local law enforcement scratching their heads and cat lovers clutching their pearls (and their pets), local resident Henri DuBois, originally from Haiti, has become the center of a peculiar legal debacle. DuBois was arrested last Tuesday under charges of ‘catfishing,’ but not the kind you’d expect in the digital age.

Henri, a recent transplant to the neighborhood, was discovered in the wee hours of the morning, armed with a fishing pole, a can of tuna, and an unwavering commitment to what he believed was a new American pastime. “The English, it is very confusing,” DuBois exclaimed during his arraignment, sporting a bemused look. “I hear ‘catfishing,’ I think, ‘Ah, a sport, like the baseball!'”

Neighbors initially thought DuBois was an eccentric cat whisperer or perhaps practicing an avant-garde form of performance art. However, when Mrs. Whiskerton’s prized Siamese, Mr. Fluffles, was found dangling from a fishing line, the misunderstanding escalated into a full-blown community incident.

In the end, DuBois was let off with a warning and a recommendation to join the local fishing club, which has now added a ‘no live bait’ rule for clarity. And Springfield? Well, it’s learned that when it comes to language, sometimes you need to spell things out a bit more… or at least keep the fishing poles away from the felines.
